Beautiful view. Very interesting, but I have to say the Edward Scissorhands outfit is kinda distracting.

    Hi Steve,

The photo is calling out for some background information.

My son Joel has become very interested in photography and motorcycles. We rode together on my FJR1300. He is wearing his mother's leathers as I am a firm believer of ATGATT (All The Gear All The Time).

We rode through the rolling hills and wheat farmlands of the Palouse to StepToe Butte state park. It is a unique geologic feature (StepToe) that was named after this particular location.

He is 14 and a Freshman in High School and his journay to becoming an adult has sped up this Fall. As you can see, his hair is longer then his mother and I would prefer, but we are not pressuring him to cut it (too much). He recently went to his first formal dance at his high school and he asked a girl to the dance and they went together.

I felt this pictured captured in a symbolic way the "journey" he is on presently. Anyway, I hope this little snippet in to his life (and his parent's too) helps explain the title and his black leather outfit.

    Best,

    Chuck

it's so satisfying to read that your son has your interests also-

when is he going to start posting (or has he already)-

    Thak you cdhames! :photo

Yes, we rode to the top of StepToe Butte together on my FJR1300. He is 14 and not legally able to ride on public highways in the US.

Thank you, I like the ruggedness of the the rock and the wheatfields that are being plowed in preparation for Winter wheat planting in the rolling hills of the Palouse.

Very good photograph. I like the contrast between the warmth of the landscape versus the "cool" biker outfit.

I like the shot. I think you cann see the awkwardness and uncertainty that defines being 14. I wish my dad had taken the time to drag me around the country on the back of a bike when I was that age. Now all you need too do is get him to start shooting pics with you and you'll have two life long hobbies to share.

Thank you, that was the objective of this motorcycle ride. To take pictures form the top of StepToe Butte together. I need to encourage him again to establish a dgrin account and post pictures and stories.

This image I took at Steptoe Butte captures the beautiful scenery around the windy roads that my dad and I took to get there. This image also shows the vast amount of farm land around it. You can notice how the farmers plowed around their propery lines to create a fire break. They used fire to fertalize the next crop that would be grown on their field for the next season.

Great shot and even better memories! I've been there also a few years ago, the scene from there is even more breathtaking during harvest season.
    Have a great day!
