Help identifying a lizard

This little guy was running around in the desert and he decided to stop to pose for me hehehe but I have no idea what type of lizard he/she is. Any thoughts? This was taken in Phoenix, Arizona He/She was about 7 inches long and the body was about 1 inch thick.

Great find and shot looks like it was not much visible on that surafce

I have allways called them collard lizards.

looking them up I think he may be the Spiny Lizard

I tried to find him in e-nature but I did not even know where to begin... That has got to be the one!!! Their pic certainly looks like the one I took. Thank you sooo much.

serendipity! I was sure he was a collard lizard so I just googled for a picture and there was a ref to the spiny. So thank you as I learned too.
