I think the current process should be made better than it is. Like to be able to see the prices before adding to cart. I have an example, this site doesn't have images added yet but you get a idea of the layout. I like the idea of the options below the thumbnails. Please make this happen.

I dunno. I like how clean it is underneath my photos the way the cart is today. Not sure I actually want the drop box your site has. But maybe something could be made better. The way it is now, you click on add to cart and it throws in a 4x6 glossy. You have to go back and change that if you actually wanted somthing different. Maybe have an intermediate step that asks what you want, which of course shows prices, and has an option to cancel the add to cart if you don't like the price.

    Am I missing something?
    1. Select a gallery
    2. Add one or several (nice batch feature) images to the cart
    3. If not satisfied, repeat steps 1,2
    4. Go to the cart
    5. Select an image, specify desired output (wallet..20"xx30", or mouse mad, etc.)
    6. Apply this setup to every thing else (or to a selection)
    7. if not satisfied, repeat steps 5.6
    8. submt the payment
That's all folks. You always can specify the printout format after you added the picture to the cart..

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks so much for the mockup, but I'm afraid we just can't do it. First of all, it clutters up the interface too much (and we're anti-clutter), and secondly, it's actually very expensive on our servers to do the dynamic pricing stuff we do. With the relatively large catalog, and multi-tiered professional pricing, doing the price calculations on each photo would seriously hamper smugmug's performance.

We've thought for awhile about offering a pricelist item you could click on, which would take you to a seperate page with prices for a given item, but thus far it hasn't moved beyond thought. The feedback we get when we've asked other people is that it's just easier to add to cart and browse through the prices.

We're aware of the pricing situation, and we'll continue to work on it, but a real dropdown for each and every photo just isn't going to work. Sorry.
