Firmware upgrades are available on NikonUSA today.

This is the long awaited upgrade which has several nice features. Curious to see the AF upgrades on my D2X.

Thnaks Mitchell. The upgrades for the D2x and the D2hs are the most extensive that I've seen. The folks in the US can go to http://support.nikontech.com/cgi-bin/nikonusa.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_sid=lk_wAaji

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

This firmware upgrade is about as impressive as Harry's customer service experience with Nikon! Kudos to Nikon! If only Canon had done the same for us 20D owners... there wouldn't be a 30D!

I see that with the update there is now a B&W shooting option. Now that's amazing ,B&W, what will they think of next? :lol4

I also found this quite amusing. Unfortunately, it only works with JPeg files. RAW files are still in color. Here I was hoping for a fix for my lousy B&W conversion techniques.ne_nau.gif

Several observations on the update. The autofocus has been significantly improved. I didn't think it could get any better than my D2x, but I just shot a middle school volleyball game in a poorly lit gym with my 85mm, f1.4 wide open and got almost all of my shots in focus. This is not a sports lens. Prior to the update, my hit rate was maybe 50%. Sadly, the update has done nothing that I can see about noise at higher ISO. My shots at ISO 800 and above are still just too noisy.
