Hi All,

http://jsuro.smugmug.com/

I upgraded to Pro over the weekend. Set Ext. Links to yes and protected to yes. No problems linking until just now. Now the copyright message comes up but when I click OK the menu does not. It takes me back to the screen so I can't link! I linked this morning with no problems.

Something I missed?

Best,

Jose

Hi Jose, how are you? Which gallery, please - and I'll figure on spending some time, getting lost in your great works tonight :D

If I understand you, you want to be able to get the links for a photo:

    like this:

Hi Andy! I'm doing great and you?

Never mind and I apologize for the apparent false alarm but it's working now and I don't have a clue as to what changed. I think when I went offsite to get a link for you (I could not get it from smugmug) and then went back to my site it worked. I was orginally trying to get a link posted for challenge #75 (my first entry) :). I think my machine might have gotten confused as to which window was logged in and which was not ( I run it both ways real time with IE and Firefox running at the same time).

Or, I might have to be on a window with jsuro.smugmug.com instead of my new redirect josesuro.com , even if logged in, I'll have to check that.

Any way, thanks for the quick response and the kind words on the images. You guys are the best!! That's why I went to the Pro tier :).

    Regards,

    Jose

OK More info :). If the gallery is right-click protected I never get a menu after clicking OK on the message and there is no way to link, even if linking is set to yes.

    A gallery with right-click protect:

    http://jsuro.smugmug.com/gallery/1162947

    One without:

    http://www.josesuro.com/gallery/1228906

Linikng does not work on the first (no menu to do so) and works on the second. Seems the two properties are mutually exclusive.

In other words, in right click protected galleries there is no longer a menu after pressing OK on the copyright message.

Jose, Right Click Protect will ONLY protect your phtoos while being viewed on your SmugMug Pages. If you allow external linking, they won't be right click protected (like in a forum posting). Just making sure you know.

Turn on Easy Sharing if you want the share page link :D

I think we're on a different page here Andy. My impression on how this should work is this: I can right-click protect a gallery, and while viewing my site I can right-click on an image in said gallery and I will get the copyright message. After this I can click OK and an the regular menu is displayed, which even lets me save the image - but I save a blank. In my case, if the gallery is right-click protected, even with linking enabled, after I click OK on the copyright message I never get the menu to link the image, or save it for that matter. Ergo, no linking if right-click protect is enabled.

I'm not trying to link a smugmug page just the image.

    This is such a gallery:

Jose, you can always get the link, one of two ways:

    1) build it yourself:
    http://jsuro.smugmug.com/gallery/1162947/1/54287636/Large
    turns into

    http://jsuro.smugmug.com/photos/54287636-L.jpg

    or

    2) turn on Easy Sharing in gallery customization. If you have right click protection on, you can't get the right click, properties menu. K?

Aaaahh-- I had been wondering about this exact topic recently. My fantasy would be for a SM right/ctrl-click protection that put a transparent gif layer over the image that could follow it around the web, even on forums. Now that would be cool! :cool

    Hi Andy,

Got it! I see how it works now. What I'll do is turn off right-click protect when I'm linking something and then turn it back on after I'm done.

It would be nice if right-click protect was disabled when logged into your own site :) Any way to do that in CSS?

    Thanks!
