Renting lenses

Hi folks! I'm looking at photographing a 5k dog walk/run marathon, Unfortunatley, I'm worried that my current lenses just aren't going to cut it, but I can't afford to buy.

So, I'm looking to you guys, perhaps you can help me find a place in my area that rents lenses. The store preferably somewhere around Colfax, CA but I commute almost daily to Roseville, CA I'm also willing to go out towards sacramento a bit but would rather avoid it...

Currently I go to Action Camera(http://www.actioncamera.com/) all the time, but unfortunately, I don't believe they rent equipment.

I've done a few google searches, but alas, no luck...

Anyone know of a place in the area?

Thanks ahead of time!
Ben

Or maybe this one, they've five stores in Cali, not to familiar with Cali so I'm not sure how local any of them may be for you.

    Good luck.

Calumet Photo has been around for a very long time....they were the store to go to for large format needs for a very long time and probabl still are.

I would trust them completely, especially if they are any where near you so you can HANDLE what you are wanting to rent...also remember if you can pick it up and return it your self....that is much more safe than putting it in the mail (or UPS) and relying on them for ontime delivery of your rented equipment.....also you might try your local photo shop ...alot of the locals rent good reliable used equipment.

    Good luck

Calumet is certainly a good outfit and a reliable source but...only if you live near one. And even if you do live near one of their stores, it can be inconvenient to go there to pick up the lens and then return it at the end of the rental period.

I also want to ensure everyone that using http://www.lensprotogo.com is very safe. All of my lenses are shipped in Pelican brand cases to ensure they arrive safely to you and back to us. And all of the packages are shipped via USPS 2-3 Day Priority Mail so I can get it to you quickly anywhere in the country.

And I would also like to point out that my weekly rates are often quite a bit less than places like Calumet. Plus you never have to leave your house in order to rent an "L" lens.

I pride myself on having the absolute best service in the industry. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me at service@lensprotogo.com or call me at 508-243-2956.

    Thanks,

Will trade 2 crisp examples of the "Kit Lens" for a 400mm 2.8

You also seem to be out of stock on alot of lenses, particularly the longer range zooms...

The 70-200 f/2.8L IS in particular is in really high demand despite the fact that I have several copies of it. I'll probably add more to my inventory if the demand for it keeps up. What other lenses are you looking for?

As far as the 300 f/2.8 or 400 f/4 goes, I may be adding the very fast, long glass to my inventory at some point in the future, but right now I need to hold off on that.

I do have the 300 f/4L IS and the 400 f/5.6L both of which are nice lenses and won't break your back or your bank account.
