Making snow

It's been below freezing for about a day now and they have been making snow for XC skiing at the Weston Ski Track. This is a public golf course 8 months of the year, but starting the week after Thanksgiving until the end of March (give or take a few weeks), it's a mecca for Boston area XC skiers. To my knowledge, this is the only place in New England that makes snow for cross country skiing. People who live around here know that the weather is too warm for consistent winter sports. We get a lot of cold and freezing rain. We get a lot of thaws. But the folks at the WST are snow magicians and ususally manage to keep at least a 1 km loop covered with snow during January and February. Usually longer.

So I dropped by this morning on the way to work to see how it was going. They were running 3 snow machines and had about 1/4 of the core loop covered.
