I haven't posted in quite a while but I've been checking the forum often! Thought I'd post some candid shots from a family trip to the lake. I was experimenting with my 85 1.8 lens using natural light. Comments are welcome!

I liked the first one a lot.

The third one seems like the face highlights are too high.

Thank you for the comment padu - I agree that the highlights are a little blown but I just adore the expressions on their faces. The third picture is the most special to me iloveyou.gif

    Thank you Sandy!

    I like this one best.
Like the shallow DOF and the eyecontact.

    adorable pictures!
the first one is an excellent capture. great eyes, expression, light, and dof! i think there might be some sort of color cast (maybe greenish) on that one, maybe i'm just tired.

They're really nice shots. I like the second one best.
However, as for calling them candids - to me, the third one is the most candid shot. The others have a kind of artiface to them in that the kids are really aware of the camera.

I see the color cast - I'll try to see if I can correct it. Thanks binghott!

okay okay - first and third are candid. Not in the order of capture - they noticed the camera in the second. My children are so aware of the camera and will automatically pose for me so I have to be pretty sneaky to get some "non-posed" shots. Thank you for your comment!

    Hi Jen:
Really love the 2nd photo with the 1st being a close runner up. It is nice to have happy children isn't it. Great colour as well. Me thinks that lens is a keeper!!
