My browzer IE has been hijacked and I have at least one trojan! angry.gif
(Even tried FireFox and it's running goofy)

I ran Hijack This but dunno what to delete.
My AVG Anti-Virus doesn't get rid of the dang trojan(s) either.

Computer(Dell Dimension 4600...Win XP Home...2 Gig Ram...Pent 4 with HT) is running slower than smoke off snail poop and my pop-up blocker is being by passed.

Is there free trojan zapper out there?

REALLY hope someone can help!!! :dunno
REALLY TICKED!!

I do computer consulting and have seen this crap too often. It is a real pain sometimes to get your PC cleaned and back to normal.

Start the PC in 'SAFE' mode before running any removal software. That prevents the malware from loading into memory. Some are very good at protecting themselves if you don't do this.

To enter 'SAFE' mode, hit the F8 key just before you see the initial Windows loading screen.

You also should run the free programs Ad-Aware by Lavasoft, and Spybot by Safer-Networking. I run both regularly.

When you are cleaned, download 'DropMyRights' and install it. Read the instuctions to protect you browsers from getting jacked in the future.

You taught this old dog a new trick Gus. I had never heard of that program (Prevx) but I just tried on my son's PC. It found some pretty bad stuff including a keystroke logger. He has a password stolen recently and I guess that explains it. Other malware utilities I ran did not find it. Good stuff. clap.gif

I owe you a beer! Thanks Mate.

BTW - still recommend that all IE and Firefox users to get and use DropMyRights utility to help prevent these things from getting into the machine. I did not have on my son's PC, but have added it now.

I have had FANTASTIC luck with AD-AWARE SE by Lava Soft and it is FREE.

You are correct about AVG not helping with trojans...then again trojans are not viruses per se....nor does AVAST do anything with trojans......but that AD-Aware has done me a great job for over 5 yrs.....

    Good luck.

Ad-aware is good but does not catch everything. I use it regularly along with Spybot but neither found this keystroke logger nasty.

Thta's the downside of the spyware detectors: none of them catch everything, so you must run several. I run Adaware, Spybot & MS Defender. I'll take a look at this other one.
