Is the 'system restore' just that ? Takes me back to a time previous ? ..or is it something else i have to do to do this ?

I have been googling it & that looks the money but thought i'd ask the boffins in here before i hit the button.
Yeah you have to set a restore point, always good to do when you make major changes, etc.

If you won't wanna hit that button,

The default will have XP create a restore point during a major change like a windows update. The nice thing is that it will restore only the sytem state and not affect anything else, so all the files you have created and saved or downloads since the point you are restoring from will still be there. Program installs however won't.

Winders sets a restore point everytime you restart your machine.
