Went riding with some friends this weekend in Boone, NC to do about 100 miles Sat & Sun. Left my camera in a friend's car that was riding ahead of us with water/food. Managed to get a few including some of us taking the long/steep climb up Beech mountain in the fog/rain/wind/cold...

    Chuckice,
I know that climb up 105 to Beech mountain very well...I can barely get my SUV to keep tempo. Good job...did you stop and get some of that yummy barbecue on the way up?

The rain and fog look very familiar...

Thanks! There was NO stopping other than one time to take the pix...it's such a hard climb on a bike. And on the straight-aways in the fog the road looks like a wall in the distance...very disheartening. It was raining, very windy, cold...almost ethereal in the mist...a perfect day on the bike. thumb.gif We rode the Blood, Sweat and Gears route the day before and rode up Snake Mountain which was unholy. 2 miles at about 6% and the last 1/2 mile at 18-20%. Absolutely the most beautiful area on the East Coast for riding imho...

    #1 I like the perdy flowers. :D

    #2 Man against the elements!

    #3 Nice colors and composition.

I rode fast and furious overseas. But I gave it up when I got back 'cause U.S. drivers were just too hostile to bikes. I know people hit with bottles, run off the road, shot at. To bike, you gotta be hardcore these days. I salute you.

I just stick to my motorcycle. I can accelerate away from the crazies.

Thanks! Too true...but there are bike friendly areas...Boone for example is great. Everyone is pretty respectful of riders and gave us plenty of space while we were agonizing up Beech mountain. I just don't ride in the bad areas or at heavy traffic times anymore...riding in Boone on bike, motorcycle or by car is simply fantastic this time of year.
