Circular polarizer drop-in for a 400mm f2.8 AFS II - you know the one with the small external geared wheel tor turning the encapsulated CP.

I have determined from the 400mm PDF owner's manual this is called a C-PL1L, but some people say that is just the Nikon FILTER, not the rotating holder.

So you 400 owners, which is it? Is the C-PL1L the CP AND THE HOLDER or just the CP?

Many thanks

That 400mm Nikkor lens should have included a filter holder and a 52mm ND filter. Apparently, the C-PL1L is just a filter and requires the holder you should have.

It looks like the filter itself is a little hard to locate, but there is an EBay outfit that handles them.

(I hope I got this one right, or Harry's gonna have my hide. I'm hoping he or another Nikon person will chime in, but I thought you should have this information anyway.)

This is very much the same filter system as the Canon. For the Canon
and I'm sure the Nikon, the filter is both the filter and the holder.
