Yup, pretty these critters ain't, but interesting is the truth! I'm not too fond of bugs, but find mantises (what's the plural of mantis?) interesting & wanted to get a good picture of one. This one was on a bush in front of a white wall in late afternoon. I had to study the image for a while, and decided I liked the legs waving in addition to the angle of the branches.
I appreciate your comment! You and Harry and all of the regular posters have really given me inspiration in the very high quality of your work and your generosity in sharing technical knowledge.
One time I was traveling back from the coast (Washington) on Highway 2 through the mountains (60 mph), stopped for gas, and found a mantis riding in the bed of my truck! It had been at least an hour since I'd stopped, so it had had quite a ride!
