take off

While taking soccer pics & saw some geese setting their wings for a small pond nearby. As soon as the game ended & before the next started I hustled over to shoot some. While down there I was hoping someone would walk by or bring their dog down & kick them up. They must have got nervous of me though & I was able to shoot some as they left.

Do they always takeoff into the wind? the 2 times I've watched they flew into the wind.
