Another egret. I think this one is a Great Egret. At least that's what it's

Probably wouldn't help me with my Sony f828, I don't have any telephoto attachments to help bring the birds in closer.

Yep, that looks like a Great egret. No neck and back feathers, no yellow legs and larger than the snowy. Good work on this one Ian Like Harry mentioned about your "Pintail", this one would probably benefit from some cropping. IOW, more bird and less background. You were able to bring your "battling birds" closer to the viewer, maybe you can with this one too
I'd fully understand if you can't. I've got plenty of shots where the subject is just a bit too far away. Even with all the reach these lenses give us, you still have to be pretty close to get these birds to fill enough of the frame :cry
There's only one solution. We've got to pick up one of those 5200mm lenses that Andy posted about
Anyhow, nice one Ian and where'd you get these shots?

shooting with a 600mm and a 1.4 (he was shooting the hummingbird
in my other post). I'll work on the cropping.
This one is at the end of San Antonio Road in Palo Alto. The ducks were from
earlier this morning up at Radio Road in Redwood Shores.
Dee, I bet you can get some nice shots with the 828.
