Some people get tired of it, but I seem to like it more times than not....thumb.gif

I like the shot but it seems like all the points of interest are on the right 2/3s of the frame. Have you tried a vertical crop leaving only the right 2/3s?

Hmmm.... I didn't try it but since you mention it I'll have to take another look later when I get home. I did also take a tighter shot of the same spot here:

The first several shots in this gallery are from the same trail on the same day:

I like the tighter shot more than the first. The composition is simpler and cleaner. thumb.gif

Do you have the Exif on this kind of stuff? I've wondered how kinda shutter speed you need to make water look like that....ne_nau.gif

Lovely, and I went to your gallery, I love the one with the "green" rocks at Dark Hollow Falls!!

I'll be in your neck of the woods next week. I'll be staying in Lexington since I'm showing in the World Percheron Congress, but I should have lots of free time. Hopefully some leaves are still out!! I'll be down Oct. 24-28th. Any suggestions of "not to miss" places that aren't too far from Lexington?

*nice close up deer pictures too and I like the infared of the tower at Luray, but I don't know anything about infrared. :)

Here's the different crop of the first shot. I ended up going more square than vertical because the rocks at the bottom of the frame just seemed a bit distracting.

Yeah, that's an awesome crop. It definitely brings out the direction of the stream and where it came from too.

It really depends on the flow of the water - how much and how fast. Experimentation is the way. This happened to be a situation with not much water and moving kind of slow. These were fairly lengthy exposures. I've edited the posts so you can go back and click on the images for the full exif. A good tripod is a must.

Thanks. There should be some good color for you unless we get one of those fall storms that strips all the trees. The colors are just getting interesting here around the Fredericksburg area, Richmond's a few days behind (I commute to Richmond). Shenandoah still had lots of green when I was over there Saturday. As for places to see for color, you can't go wrong with anything around Shenandoah. If you haven't been on Skyline Drive you must do that - although the lower elevations might have more color. If you like caves, Luray Caverns is good, I haven't been in any of the others over there. Good luck on the show!
