    Great shots!!

I love Lax, --but have been mostly taking shots of field hockey lately.I saw your comment and I had a similar issue with the lighting yesterday.

Had some tough morning sun to deal with, plus a large tree which was causing a large shade area right in front. In this shot, the girl pictured had just come out of the shade and into the full sun. Got some overexposure on parts of the white in the uniform. Had the same problem with many of the white jerseys on many of the other shots. I was shooting using a Canon Digital Rebel--using the "sports" setting (probably heresy to true pro's). Any recommendations?

    Thanks

    Thanks for the comments
I shot manual with a Nikon D-50 matrix metering---shot a few test shots look at histograms and adjust accordingly
I ran your pictures through some level and shadow and highlight adjustments and noise ninja here is what I came up with

Much improved!! Thanks. I've really not been doing too much with the post processing side. But even with a subpar image, looks like you can bring out some life. Always something new to practice!

PS: If you think the girl in the center's hair now looks green--that is correct. They put on green hairspray before the game (something not to common in the guys' game...)

I actually did try switching to manual the next day--but was getting some pretty dark shots. However, I think there is data to work with in there--just need to pull out adobe and start playing around ...

Thanks again for the advice and example.

Here's a (girls) lax shot I took several months ago, but thought it was at least closer to the theme you started in this thread. (Hopefully I didn't lose too much detail when I dropped the resolution. The original is pretty sharp.)
