For those of you with a 1-series body.

For you guys that have 1 series camera. I'm fixing to purchase a 1D MKII N within the next couple of months and I'm looking for a UWA lens. Someone suggested the 16-35L, and the Sigma 12-24. I would prefer the L over the sigma, but I don't know much about the 16-35L.

These two lenses are really for somewhat different purposes. What is your application?

Well I need a UWA lens to do landscapes and interior house shots.

The Sigma is obviously much slower, but for vista landscape and interior work, I think the additional width would have more value.

I have the 1D MKII and similar thoughts are crossing my mind.

I am able to mount the Sigma 18-50mm, f2.8 EX DC on the 1D body, and I can get a pretty good 6MPix, 4x5 ratio crop from the center at the 18mm length (around 24mm equiv I'd guess), but a true superwide that can also work on the crop bodies is very alluring.iloveyou.gif

Even a few comparisons here between the two:

Flare appears to be a problem with the Sigma.
