Ric, this photo is fabulous, even with a great blue heron instead of a crane or an egret. "Flying out of the frame" generally isn't recommended in bird photography, but this shot seems more about the pond and the dock than the bird...in that case, might have been better just to wait and leave the pond/dock as the primary subjects. As is, the viewer is left confused on where to look -- dock? Bird?
Regardless, a great shot...if only the bird had stayed put for another few seconds...
