Ipod virus

Article here.

Seems 1% of video ipods left a manufacturer's site with a virus that affects Windows machines. Now I'm not posting this as a knock on Apple, but I found the quote from Apple slamming Microsoft even as it admits Apple made a mistake to be pretty balls-y, even for a notoriously sanctimonious company!:rofl

That's pretty bogus how they take the shot at Microsoft. If Microsoft made a product (like that new MP3 player they're making) and if even 5 of them shipped with a virus that only affected macs. MS would find themselves in court faster than Martha Stewart.

    Let it rest.

A bunch of hot air and conjecture get us nowhere.

I think Marlin has a valid point. Maybe they just need something special to protect their fragile soft skin.

I just thought it was funny. It's like "yeah, we made a small mistake and we took care of it but if they didn't SUCK SO BAD it wouldn't have mattered"! lol3.gif

Well, the question is was it a mistake? The bigger question, while MS will likely do nothing (it's hard when you have such a large majority of the market share), will McDonalds, which gave away some of the infected iPods, do something. Word is, McDonalds is very angry.

While I'm not an Apple user, I absolutely believe that it was an honest mistake.

    Well...

at least they finally fixed iTunes... As soon as I downloaded version 6... music skipped and wouldn't run on the hardware card I have. Now the new 7.x is out everything seems to be fine once again.

    *sigh*

Sorry for being OT... but a chance to go against Apple really doesn't come along too often for me.

When I downloaded 7.1 it deleted everything on my ipod video. It didn't even tell me, not even with the little spinny status thingy. Considering that a lot of that stuff isn't even on my HD any more, I've got a lot of wasted time ahead of me.

Oh please, Apple screwed up. That happens. It would of easily gone away, even though it became high profile with the McDonalds give away, a lot easier if Apple would of said they were sorry and that was it. They felt the need to blame MS also. It's not just hot air. Most of all the respected tech publications are not seeing this as something a decent comapny would do.

I should have been clearer. "If Microsoft...Apple would have taken them to court," or the later "maybe they did it on purpose" is a bunch of hooey.

I wasn't supporting Apple in my first post. Just trying to put a stop to baseless conjecture.

Did I say Apple would have taken them to court? No, I said MS would have found themselves in court.

You're right, that is what you said.

    Still hooey, IMO.
