I journeyed out to Palo Alto today to the Baylands. The area includes a
duck pond that was once a seawater swimming pool along with the Lucy
Evans Wildlife Center.

This is a Long Billed Curlew.

Hmmmm. I'm glad I'm not a long billed curlew! That mud looks tasty!
Great shot. The shimmer on the mud makes it look gross .... in a good way! you can almost feel it....... ewe. :Dclap.gif

Thanks Kate! I have a shot with him down in the mud. But it's not as good
visually. The tide was out making it prime shooting for these little guys.

Very nice piece of work. Those little birds are a lot tougher to shoot than the larger birds.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks Harry! I took your earlier advice and added the 1.4x tc and heavy cropping.

    Very nice Ian
Color, contrast, sharpness, composition, exposure, it's all good thumb.gif Plus, as Harry wrote, it's much harder to nail these smaller guys than the large birds. Good work clap.gif

I am really starting to enjoy that place. The more I explore the more I find to shoot. Unfortunately, I usually shoot it late in the afternoon, so I can only shoot towards the East. Still there are so many kewl birds there, I always come home satisfied mwink.gif I just wish I could get closer to some of the raptors ne_nau.gif

    Thanks for sharing this one,
