Hey folks...my first time here...thought I'd share a few photos to get started. Hope I get the link posting stuff done correctly...

We recently moved to California (Monterey), and I've spent a few evenings out doing sunset photography...it's great. Here are a few samples -- feedback welcome!

Asilomar State Beach, Pacific Grove:

I like the shots. Nicely composed and good colors.
The last shot would be a lot better if the u-shapped branch was cloned out.

Thanks for the feedback, David -- but I don't digitally edit any of my photos. I shoot with a 30D, but I'm religious about photoshop additions and subtractions -- I'm one of those "traditionalists" who thinks that adding and removing things with photoshop is dishonest. That said, I agree -- I should have taken the time to find a different angle or composition where that branch wasn't in the foreground. Thanks for the feeback! Best regards,

    Asilomar
is a great place to take sunset pictures, and pictures of deer!

I'll be in the area in early December and I'm looking forward to revisiting my favorite spots.

I really like the sky in the first picture, but something about the water just doesn't do it for me.

I love the second and third ones though. Very nice all around on those two!

I have a slightly different opinion of the fourth one. I think none of the branches should be in the picture, but the one on the ground MIGHT be able to be included...maybe if you shot from a lower vantage point to make it more prominent instead of a "mistake". However, the branches on the top-right are distracting and unattractive.

Beautiful locations and I can't wait to see more, I really like those dreamy sunsets in #2 & #3 :)

Thanks Christina...agree on all counts...I'm considering removing the last photo from the gallery, I'm just not very impressed with it (and it appears other folks aren't either).

Glad you enjoyed the others. Thanks for the feedback,

Welcome aboard! Monterey/Pacific Grove is a fav place of ours. We usually stay at Borgs on Lovers point. Great views and shots from there and in the area. Have you been down thru the Big Sur yet? Nice images, thanks for sharing and I'll check out your site too. :D
    Have a great day!

Great! We just had dinner at Latitudes at Lover's Point a few hours ago. Great sunset anywhere you go around hee. We've been down to Big Sur a few times -- just haven't gotten around to uploaded the photos. Should have some good ones from Julia Pfeiffer Burns S.P., Andrew Molera S.P., and Lime Kiln S.P. uploaded in the next week or so...stay tuned! Best regards,
