I met up today with some real birders for my first official outing. I still can't believe I took these shots. Their tips were truly remarkable! Any comments appreciated.

Yay! These are really nice! That first bird looks fake, but the shot is awesome! Great job with the white and I didn't even see the fish at first. You found a lot of hungry birds huh? :D

I like the heron too (IS that a heron?) He's got a real sinister look about him, great personality showing there.

Check out the stop action on that last one! Fresh fish!

Where were these taken, if you don't mind my asking? I can't give any tips since I know next to nothing about birds and bird photos, but for what it's worth, I like 'em!

    Christina,
Thanks for looking and for your kind comments. The first bird does look "kinda fake" because there is no catchlight in it's eye. See what I mean when you look at the sparkle in the eye of the third photo.

These were all taken at sunrise this morning at Fr. De Soto Park in St. Petersburg, Florida. The birds were hungry and the fish were plentiful!! A great combination.

    Great Shots!

The first one is one of the best flight shots I have seen, very tough to get I know. Is it cropped a little. I would love to see the original, the crop may be a little tight?

    Awesome work, shane

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I agree with your cropping comments. I've been tightly cropping my portraits and soccer photos for more impact. The egret photo here seems a little boxed in. I will play with it some more to give it some more room. I've got plently of space since I only used my 300mm for these!

    Thanks for looking.

This any better? I tried to give it a little more flight room.
