Head of the Charles is this weekend and I went out with a trusty zoom to try my hand at some pix. Since the last HOTC post was in this forum (from 2005), thought I would post this here.
All shots taken with Canon 350D and Canon EF 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5. ISO 200 with f/8. Shutter speed ranged from 250-800.

from the BU bridge:

From the Cambridge side with some backlighting

Only had an hour to shoot today but hoping to go back tomorrow for more shots. I'm going to try for some closer shots near the start line to get expressions of the athletes.
Advice/critique greatly appreciated!

Any suggestions before I go out and try again today? Weather conditions look to be the same. Likely will shoot a bit later in the day (2-4pm).
    Thanks!

What a classic race! The curve of the river makes for some very
interesting passing when a faster crew overtakes a slower crew.

Tight shots of the crews are always good as are establishing shots,
those that show where the race is being held.

You've got some good shots here. The eight, skyline shot and the
    quad headed under the bridge.
