    Hmmmmmmm
    Ed,
This type of shot is definitely not my forte. So please take my comments with a grain of salt (or a shot of tequilla :lol )

When I first viewed it, I thought it looked a bit too washed out. The more I look, the less I agree with my first impression. The way you edited this one, her eyes really stand out (including her eyelashes). That's a good thing, IMO, and I like it. I also think it adds a softness to her serene look (I bet she's thinking about all those toys she's gonna get on Saturday clap.gif )

Bottomline is, that I like what you've done with this one thumb.gif Good work!!

I like what you've done with it. She'll treasure that down the road I'm sure.

It's a lovely shot Ed, she looks beautiful.

My personal preference would be for a slightly darker print. For me it needs a touch more definition.

I do like the look, but I'll echo yvonne, my preference would be just ever so slightly darker. Especially around the eyes.

Hi, I messed with it, and what I did is over on the challenge thread of yours.
Mine almost makes her look older than 5. She is a beautiful child.

I would, and I know we don't much here, but I would try putting a frame around yours, like I did on the one I messed with. I think one of the reasons it might look washed out is the contrast with the black here.

Just guessing, I don't know. If I were to do the one I did over again, I would not have made the eyebrows so dark, I think they are too dark for a 5 yr old.
Yours are probably just right. The important thing is to keep the emphasis on her eyes, I think.

    Beautiful.

I like this version much better.. the only small distraction for me (being a woman) is that eyebrow (her left) is ruffled... I would have cloned that a tad..

    Lovely!
    Hughes,

I'm all for this sketchy look you achieved here! The second picture adds that little extra contrast I found lacking on the first. Excellent job by all measures!

    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Take care!

The second one, definitely. thumb.gif I think even the overexposed (high key?) images the fashion photogs are doing have a darker point or two for contrast. I think eyes and lips are where they make things darker.

I was taught that you had to have black and you had to have white in a photo, where it was reasonable to expect it.............that was many years ago. I just like to see black somewhere, I love high key, don't care in low key about the white as much as I do about the "black" in high key. (Something to be the exclamation point, the emphasis) (and in color that black could be red, or whatever)

    Just mho.
