Hi there AwfulKnawful........well funny you should ask, this is actually the very first meetup for the Ozzies :D

These things are so hard to organize, especially when most of us have work and other commitments, and we all seem to be spread out all over the place.

Nice to see you on board with Dgrin, I'm sure you will find the forum full of interesting people and a wealth of knowledge too :D

as i mentioned to skippy, there's a shuttle bus service that leaves from the city and operates 4 times a day. if one of these leaves at the right time, i'd love to fill that last position. i'll find out tomorrow.

    cheers !

okay, bus service phoned and BOOKED.

    Pm sent skippy :)

it's $25 return for those ppl who are interested, and they depart at 8.15AM to easily make it to the zoo before 9AM. departs from the VIC art centre on st Kilda Rd. return times are 1-3-5 ish... to be notified on the day to the driver.

one other note... i've got a 17-55mm 2.8 and a 70-200mm 2.8. you gys reckon it's worth bringing the wide angle? or best just to take the 200 alone.

also, is it worth picking up a 2.0 x TC to make it 400mm f/5.6 or should i hold on and maybe later buy a 400mm 2.8... decisions.

A 400 mm 2.8 is about $7000 or $8000 AUD & weighs about 6 kg. I dont recon you would see a lot of change from $1000 min for a tripod to support it...are you sure you want to buy one later ?

Jon and I are probably going to go and shoot a sunrise on the morning of the shoot (haven't actually discussed the details yet). So if you're interested in that I can give you a lift, as I will be picking Jon up from a hotel in Collins Street.

If you don't come to the sunrise shoot, I could still potentially pick you up but it depends on the location we decide to shoot.
