Hi

Can anyone post photos to this thread showing the results of photos taken using this setup : http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/1166287

And if no one can post pics - how close would the setup have to be to the subject being photographed.

PS. I want to see other pics using this setup other than the ones shown on the webpage.

Thanks
Bruce :barb

    Bruce,
I can vouch for Shay deal.gif

I've been using similar, if not identical, setup (built by his recommendation, actually) for 2+ years, it works great.

Here's a couple from when I was shooting for "bw in color" challenge.

I wanted the low light, so my flash was at a min power...

Nice - tell me what the background is made from, how many and what types of lights lit the articles and how you set it all up?

    Thanks. clap.gifclapclap.gif

First of all, I have a favor to ask: if you can please edit your post and remove my images from there, that would be great!
I'm asking not because they are mine:-), but simply because having copies of pictures from the original posts in replies make the threads bloated and hard to read ne_nau.gif
    TIA! thumb.gif

    Now, to your questions:-)

It was simply two poster boards, one white, one black. Kids usually have them in the house for whatever school projects they do, so I used the ones that was "lying around":-)

Light is exactly as Shay described, with the exception that I used a brollybox (shoot-through white umbrella) instead of reflecting umbrella.
Sunpack 555AutoEX on a stand on a side of the target, PocketWizard activated.
I believe I was shooting with 20D at the time.

Was shot w/ 580ex in a brolly box type umbrella with 580ex background light both on pocket wizard multimax's. Shot against white foam-board because subject was being extracted from the background. Needs color correction. Actually screwed up the shoot by metering at 200 iso and had camera set at 100 (first time out shooting with a meter).

    My efforts
    Hi People

I had a go last night with a rig up of side strobe lighting, reflectors (but no umbrella) and the like.

What do you think? And how do I post pics to this thread (I read the instructions and they didn't help me)

Here is a recent example of the setup taken just a few days ago:

    kelsey004.jpg

I used one light on a light stand with a small softbox instead of an umbrella and a pocketwizard to trigger instead of a sync cord. Those changes were made to make moving around outside more practical, but the effects on the photo were negligible if I had instead used an umbrella and cord.

I didn't know the other person's posts and pics could be removed - that's another thing I have learnt.
