GPS tagging photos?

How do you all GPS tag your photos. I mean the whole thing from start to finish including what GPS unit do you use? I want something that can log for several hours, maybe can do double duty and provide car directions every now and then, and is an easy process to tag my photos from my 20D.

I must know because I want to take another photo from a place I took one photo before, and if I hadn't by chance let the sign saying where it was (it was an overlook on the Blue Ridge Pkwy), I'd probably never find it. There won't always be signs, so I want to start GPS tagging.
Thanks,
Richard

I will sometimes use a Garmin etrex but honestly, I find it easier to
note the general area and use that for everything shot there.
The etrex takes a couple of double A's and seems to last for a long
time. Plus it's small enough that you don't notice the extra weight.

I got an e-trex Legend. Is there any software that correlates the images (based on EXIF time stamp) to the track data of the Legend (based on GPS time stamp) and automatically puts it into the EXIF info of the file?

Well, the main purpose for this is when I'm in the middle of nowhere, or somewhere that I might not return to for years. I'll look into that Garmin, but what software do you use to tag?
    Thanks,
    Richard

There definitley is, but I don't know it. Once upon a time someone explained to me why the Sony thing is not unique at all, but I forgot how he told me to accomplish the same thing.

Ah hah! I found my thread on dpreview

robogeo is a package that was recently mentioned for doing just that, but it's windows only.

Geotagger is a dropplet I've heard of for macs.

    sync (time/date) the camera and etrex and a pencil/paper. There's a
data cable that allows you to download the waypoints.

OK, I think I'm going to go with a Magellan explorist 500 because they can be had for under $200 and can be expanded to any size with an SD card. But the question is 500 or 500 LE (500 LE can take AAA batteries instead of li-ion but is harder to find)

Oh, the LE can also take the li-ion...that was easy. And costco.com has it for 172...I hate costco, but money talks.

Pf eek7.gif. Why would anyone do that. The software exists (I saw it once but the link was dead, was shareware or freeware, forgot).

If your shooting Nikon's D200 ,D2Hs,D2X & D2Xs with 2 optional cables are able to hook directly to some of the Garmin and Magellan Gps units directly and have that info loaded directly to EXIF...or is it the IPTC....anyway....According to Canon's email to me yeaterday, they have no plans to implement this feature.....that's too bad.

Yeah, it is too bad. But I found this www.jetphotosoft.com. I obviously haven't used it yet, but it sure looks neat.
