Hello folks. Had a pretty good day of shooting today. Almost filled a 2 gig card in a couple hours. Got up at the crack of dawn..and headed out to the beach. Saw all kinds of birds (osprey, egrets, herons, ibis, beach rats, waders, ducks) and even some dolphins. Had some difficulty with the first light and a slow lens. Still trying to pull something out of the ISO 1600 shots of the osprey with fish. In the meantime...here are some taken later in the day.

Thanks for looking.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Those are some big feet! I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of those things.

Great series, and a beautiful bird!

Beautiful shots of the male osprey! I'm a volunteer osprey nest monitor here in Minnesota. I'm going through empty nest syndrome with my birds having migrated to South America. Thanks for the osprey fix! I really needed it.

I also know what you mean about filling a couple of gigs with photos. I've attended osprey bandings and I've done the same. They are very photogenic birds. I can't wait to see the osprey with his fish.

Cool Osprey shots Mike! thumb.gif "ISO 1600" ouch!

Thanks Glenn. Yep...ISO 1600 first light shots. Not the best light for bird in flight. :cry Horrible shooting situation....but beautiful experience. There are so many birds fishing first light each morning. Seems the minute the sun is high enough to break through the horizon...the osprey are done fishing. Need a 400mm f/2.8 :D Taking donations. wings.gif

Thanks Diane. Welcome to Dgrin. Look forward to seeing some of your osprey shots.

Here is one of the high ISO shots taken first light in the morning. Had a terrible time with the lack of light. Weird light casts on the bird also. Nice fish they have. clap.gif
