A few from my 'throw the Canon 350D and Sigma 30/1.4 in the coat pocket' series. C/C greatly appreciated!

Managed to catch the 'golden hour' Friday morning and got these:

Does this one 'work'? Anything other than a pigeon and I wouldn't think to ask but...a rat with wings?

After work:

One from last week under different sky conditions (I think I prefer this one):

More from Friday on a walk along the Charles River:

Thanks for looking,

    Great work
    • I think the photo with the pigeon would work better if you cropped out the right side of the image, leaving the pigeon on the right and the skyline in the background to the left. Maybe come in a bit from the left as well.
    • The second sailboat photo is outstanding. I love the color, the POV, the composition...everything.
    • I'm not sure if the first Charles River photo works so well with the tree in the middle of the image. Perhaps if you had panned the camera to the right a bit, allowing the branches to extend to the right, it might be a more pleasing composition.
    Nice work!

    Thanks for the comment.
The lighting had been pretty terrible with heavy grey clouds. I had gotten a few shots but the foliage kept getting pushed into the shadows. Was about to give up when the sun shone through for a few minutes. At the same time, a sailboat came by at the perfect distance. Boosted shadows a touch in CS2. Can't wait to print this one...

    Thanks for commenting/critiquing Bob.
As far as the pigeon shot, I wasn't crazy about the crop and cut some off both ends (a bit more off the right) to try to get the bird uncentered. I hate to chop off the Prudential building though...
The sailboat is becoming one of my favorites - see my comment above.
I agree with the tree placement on the Charles River shot. Just didn't have much room to move and still be able to frame it. I tried some landscape oriented ones that didn't work out as well as I had hoped. They can't all be keepers....
    Thanks again,
    E
