The street where I live.

This picture is crap. But everytime I try to delete it I keep not deleting it, because I think to myself, "maybe it's not crap."

Comments welcome.

[EDIT: original picture was washed out due to monitor calibration issues. Corrected, I hope.]

I like it and it's not my street! I like the light filtering through the big trees. It takes me right back to childhood, where the "sidewalk" is a familiar path taken almost daily. We walked everywhere and everyday and I can still picture in my mind the long sidewalk and the houses and shade trees we passed on our many journeys. :D

it's deifnitely not crap, but first thoughts:

what's in focus? the attention is taken to the tree in the foreground (the BIG one) ...but it's not in focus...is it the first tree? no....the bushes....not really....the leaves?....kinda.....it's just hard to tell where it's focused and where I should focus on!
and nothing really POPS in the photo...nothing that immediately draws my eye in and keeps it.
also, the "for sale" sign doesn't really convey a great message...however, it is a fact of all neighborhoods.

however, it does remind me of a good morning walk....

    and that's all I thought about...lol.

    good job!

You're right about the focus. I checked the EXIF and the aperature was wide open. [EDIT: I think I was taking photos of my son at the time. :-(]

Part of the contrast issue is/was a monitor calibration/profile issue, which I think is fixed. I reposted the picture and to my eyes it doesn't look as washed out.

The "for sale" sign is distracting. I might try cloning it out if I have time. Or I might try for a reshoot this weekend.

    Thanks for your insights!

I like it too- reminds me of a small neighborhood where I grew up. That was the best neighborhood to go trick or treating, Full size candy bars!!

Just remove the for sale sign, the red car with the tail light, and the brown car towards the top left.

Not every shot has to be perfect to be good.
