    I took these photos on a visit to Shepshed Water Mill ..........

    It 's called a Millers bow .
    A hopper is fixed above two grinding stones which turn in opposite directions . The hopper is filled with grain , which then drops down onto a filtering board , before being fed betwix the stones to be ground into flour .
    The Millers bow is connected by taut rope to the board , and actually shakes the board from side to side to aid in the process ..........

    It was turned on for a short time whilst I was there ............ the noise and vibrations underfoot were tremendous .............
