I met up with Gluwater (Nick) this morning for my third trip in the past week to the Morton Arboretum in Illinois. Shots from a few days ago are here.
Much of the deep color is now gone as the seasons are transitioning into winter. The trees aren't the best subjects in late October/early November, however there's still lots to see - you just have to look a bit closer.
A typical scene through a grove of maples.
This pine (foreground) seemed a bit willow-like and in contrast to its towering cousins
behind.
Nick stayed in the car as I waited for several minutes for the sunlight to reappear. A felled tree was almost totally carpeted with moss and fungi.
.
Something different. This shot...
...led to this one. I've seen this type of shot before, but where?
The Thornhill Educational Center was once the residence of the Morton family. It now houses a library of rare nature books and serves as a conference building. The old leaded glass and filigree above the windows is very detailed.
The turning vines atop Thornhill.
A maple sunburst shot. I'm still learning how to shoot and process these things.
Nick should be along pretty soon with shots of his own.

Actually, Marc patiently explained precisely how to do this effect last May. Your effect is a very nice one.
