Yet another Mother and Child Reunion - Bears this time

Ran into these black bears in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park today. Actually there was a mother and three cubs. It was in the edge of the woods and getting dark so I had to shoot at ISO 800 and hand hold at 400 mm, and backlit to boot. Still, I'm very happy to get them. No cropping.

It would have been nicer if it had been earlier in the day so I didn't have to shoot at ISO 800. You have to keep your distance and make sure to never get between mother and child.

The cubs seemed to have no fear whatsoever. They would walk towards me causing me to back off. The mother stayed the furtherest away, but always with a watchful eye.

Not really. There were about 20 other people taking photos as well. The way I look at it is that I don't have to be the fastest, just not the slowest. :D

Good captures Dixie. I'll trade you some egrets and a heron for one of your bears. :D

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

Harry - I don't think either one of us would win with that trade. I don't know which is more dangerous - the bear's claws or the heron's beak.
