Keyword oddness?

Hey guys,

I'm just starting to try to impliment keywording and searches on my site, but am noticing some inconsistencies.

When using the searchbox on my site homepage, any of the keywords I have enclosed in quotes that are two or more words do not return on my search. Examples: spirit of detroit or: yellow tigers

Both of these keyword "strings" show as clickable links in the keyword field under an individual photo bearing that keyword string, and they also appear in my ~/keyword URL, also clickable. However if you do a search in the searchbox on my homepage, I get: "Downriver Photography's keywords matching 'spirit of detroit'
No keywords were found. Try another keyword search."

Then if you actually follow the link to the main Smugmug homepage, and do the same search, for say "yellow tigers", it will find the keyword and show in the autocomplete/popup type box, 11 results (although there are currently 12 right now) and when clicked on, will show all 12 photos. ?!?

My main dilema right now is for privacy reasons, I don't want to display my ~/keyword page or the keywords under individual photos because I plan on adding first names to these fields, in the hopes someone could search for "mary yellow tigers Detroit" in which it would weed the results to showing only the photos of a Yellow Tiger named Mary that were taken in Detroit. Am I hoping for too much?

Same, exactly. No results returned for any of the multi-word keywords. From main Smugmug page it finds and lists 11 but shows 12.

I'm having this very same problem. "latin lass" in a keyword (the name of a sailboat) in one of my galleries. It shows up under the photos as a clickable link, and it shows up under my "top keywords", but a search for it fails whether in quotes or not. What's up with that?

And for that matter, searches for single words aren't working either. I go into my latest gallery. There's a boat named diva. I search for diva. I get either no results, or tons of results from some diva dance somewhere. So I try searching for "diva". 2 results--which are actually from my gallery. But if I go back to my main page and use the "popular keywords" link for diva, I get all 8 results from the current gallery that I was expecting.

Is this a bug or am I not getting how it's supposed to work? I need to at least be able to explain to clients how to find their boats! That's the whole point here, but I can't even find them myself.

    Help please!

Notice on any keyword page in the upper right are selections for most recent
and most popular. Most recent should show all but most popular will only
show ones in Most Popular gallery.

    Is this what you're seeing?

Where are you entering your query? I just entered latin lass in the smugmug search engine and got a lot of photos of boats in the results.

    Hi Allen-
Thanks for your reply! I don't know how to get a "most recent keywords" panel on my main smugmug page (lyonsimaging.smugmug.com). The only option I find in my control panel is to include "most POPULAR keywords", which max out displaying 255 keywords.

Really since I'm paying for a pro site I'd rather never give my clients the option to see a list of keywords for all of smugmug--I'd like to retain them in my site where maybe they'll buy my images! But I'm just not that slick with getting this set up.

    thanks-
    Peter

    Hello Ivar!
Thanks for your reply. Now that I try it again, searching by typing in the search pane next to the magnifying glass icon is working inside my galleries. Something that's really NOT working, though, is the time it takes. I tried several boat names from my latest gallery. Latin Lass came up after searching for about two minutes. Alexandria might have found results but I gave up on that search after four minutes. Huck Finn took about two minutes. Then one last search for Ragtime gave me full results in about 5 seconds. And last night, sometimes a search would work, but would only find 1 of 10 photos, or something like that.

Is this buggy or is it just me?

    thanks!
    Peter
