Watch your URL's

Just an FYI

A friend who recently started a smugmug account sent me an email letting me know he had posted some new photos. He has a tendancy to mistype sometimes. His URL said check out xxxxxxxx.sumgmug.com note the sumgmug part. I was redirected to photo-online.us

This appears to be one of those link aggregation sites that is a waste of time. It does not matter what you put in front of the .sumgmug.com it all redirects to the main site. There are links on there for everything but smugmug so it is probably intended to hijack traffic.

There is nothing you can really do other than double check your URL's I am just glad that it was not a porn site. I am sure that people looking for his granddaughters photos would have been shocked if it had been.

I am going to go warn him now about the URL.

Yeha I hava habit of doing taht sometimes too. Thanks fro pointing out teh sumgmug.

So do I. I did a quick search with variations of the smugmug letters to see if any came up with bad stuff. Several went to search link aggregators and stuff but no porn or objectional material. That reminds me I need to check the variations of my custom URL.

I keep telling Andy that we need spiel check here at Dgrin :lol It would keep many of us from having to edit our posts over and over again, just so's English speaking folks can understand them
