I have purchased 2 umbrella's from them. Both purchases were far cheaper then retail, and the umbrella's were as described.

Overall I would say that I was pleased with the product, and the service too. My only complaint is they are slow to ship. That being said, they are up front about shipping times, and they do communicate very well. Why it takes 5 days to ship product, I may never know.

I have limited experience with them. I have bought several softboxes and litediscs via ebay auctions from them. For my moderate usage, everything is fine, since I've fabbed other parts I needed to get my Sunpaks working with them. A lot of the lighting items are basically Photoflex ripoffs (they were even sued for it) and I do have some guilt purchasing that kind of merchandise, but that's my issue.

I paid way less than if I had bought from B&H, Adorama, etc (22 x 16 softbox with speedring for $24 shipped, for example). However, I went into it wary and not willing to spend too much money until I had a feel for them. For miscellaneous cheap stuff, I wouldn't have a problem bidding, but I certainly would not buy directly from their site. Same products are auctioned everyday and never cost as much. Also, order processing takes 5 days or so, and then it ships, so be prepared to wait a little. Things like tripods and optics I'd steer away from, as the quality of that stuff is pretty suspect. Maybe I've been lucky so far with the lighting gear. Caveat emptor.

Keep in mind that reselleratings's rating of Amvona is based upon only 9 reviews! On Ebay's feedback, they have 150 negatives out of over 46,000 feedbacks.

I bought a light stand from them through Ebay. I had no problems and found the quality to be slightly inferior to that of a Bogen that I already owned. It isn't the best light stand on the market, but for my uses it is perfectly satisfactory.

I bought a big Octagon Softbox w/ stand from them and have had no problems getting it here timely and using it! I personally think it is good for the price!

If you bid at their site on ebay, you get far better prices than if you purchase directly. I purchased one of their tripods (chose to NOT go graphite) on ebay for an outstandingly low price (won the bid). Going non-fiber was perhaps a mistake, then again perhaps not. It is built like the proverbial brick outhouse or navy battleship! Makes an outstanding studio 'pod or even birder's rough-duty 'pod ... but heavy to get to the site. Quality is outstanding. I could probably stand on the thing and it would not collapse. If I reach the point where I need to backpack a strong tripod in somewhere, I will have no problem considering their graphite/fiber legs.
