I'm in Dana Point, CA at a business conference and the shoot was an impromptu result of a casual conversation at lunch...see what you all think! Very harsh lighting conditions, it was 2pm, clear & sunny....it was either backlit or squinting.

C&C most welcome!!

I can't see #1 for some reason... out of the rest, I like #2 the best... mom connecting with baby. Very nice.

Oh, and welcome to the neighborhood! Hope you are enjoying your stay in our neck of the woods. I live just a few miles north.

I like 2 & 4 the best, for some reason the color pictures just seem cold to me. (Like it was cold outside, and so then uncomfortable.) I don't know why I think that.

With #2 I like the expression on mom, the lighting, the off center compostion and the wind blown hair. My only gripe (and it's nit picky, I admit) is the grain that came in during the conversion. Most notably on her belly, in the shadow above her right arm and where her right arm meets the water. Nice shot :)

    # 4 I like for the reasons, but where in #2 where mom is thoughtful in #4 she's glowing. (Which is nicely enhanced by the sun.) The BW conversion seems a bit smoother here, without the grain. I'm not the best cropper, but maybe a tighter crop would make this an even better shot? headscratch.gif But, maybe not. :D

I just want to say that these are some of the most tasteful maternity portraits I've seen. Most of the time the mother is so unclothed that it's kind of...unsightly. This is great, though! After being pregnant myself, I would say that if these pictures were of me, I would buy them! They look natural and beautiful. I especially like #2. The one where she's smiling is good, but it has an odd crop. (I can't remember which number it was!) Anyways, great job getting her to look comfortable (which is difficult at this stage of pregnancy!)!

Tasteful and beautiful. I think the best of the bunch are #2 and #6. They seem contemplative to me. Nicely done. :):

Returned last night to the cold Midwest.......thanks all for the thoughtful feedback! This was my sixth maternity shoot and I now wish I could return to this spot for every one in the future!! If she seemed uncomfortable it may be because the rocky jetty was a tad dangerous....was difficult for either of us to fully relax. Fishermen were constantly walking between us.

I will work on smoothing #2 before sharing with Mom...thanks for pointing it out. I do regret the crop in #5 but it was in camera...since it was the only shot of her smiling where her eyes were discernible (b/c of squinting) I will share it w/ her.
