My 2005 Calendar

I hope this embeds the photo in this message! I printed the months side by side on 11 x 8.5 glossy photo paper. Composed in QuarkXPress, saved as an eps file, brought into photoshop where titles and photos were added. The layered file was close to 300mb and worked just fine on my old Apple Macintosh G3.

The finished prints were brought to Office Max (Office Depot was too busy) where they cut the pages in half, collated them, and bound them.

Not exactly a cheap way to go, but less expensive than Lulu.com and others, and I got to design the calendar the way I wanted to.

Yes inDEEd...very nice. Could you point us to the images you used on the calendar?

Thanks Sam! It's the third year I've printed them up. I had close to 230 possibles which I had to weed down to 12. It's a delicate balance of scenics, close ups, flowers, landscapes and seascapes -- and trying to keep the color different and the scene different each month.

Yeah, I'm a bit fussy or particular about calendar layouts. We did some large 24 x 36 wall calendars for one client for several years in a row. You can imagine how challenging it was to come up with new art, new layouts and new calendar grids! So I've had lots and lots of practice. In the end simple is best...

    Dee,

I posted you a question at that other place(:D ), but thought maybe I would post it here too.

I LOVE your calendars! I had been thinking about doing a calendar and you have encouraged me to do it after all.

But......The program you used to make the calendar part is a bit expensive. Do you know of any other meathod to get the date parts of the calander into photoshop?

Can you maybe send me the psd files of just the dates that you used for your 2005?

Really want to do this but cant figure out the best way to get the dates.

    Have you seen this site?
    Hi Tim

    http://www.pbase.com/455rocket/free_calendar_templates_full_year_2005
I used templates from this site, both single sheet/12 months and monthly templates. I made 5 12 month calendars for relatives for Christmas. Printed myself - then had staples bind and cover them. Approximate cost for supplies was $10 per calendar.
Dee's idea of 2 calendar pages per 8 x 10 sheet is nice, and cost effective.
In any case, my calendas turned out quite well, and family were impressed with my photos - they appreciated them more in print than on thier monitor it seemed. My mother in law wants to buy a bunch to give to her friends!

Thanks! I just made myself a 12 month calendar in about 5 minutes. Printed
on 76lb Denali Two Matte from Red River Paper. Looks pretty good.

You can do the dates in Photoshop. It was just easier for me to use Quark since I use it at work all the time. I'm glad you were able to make one in 5 minutes!
