Well not really but hopefully in a couple months they will be in their full splendor. For now you just get a couple icicles and leaves. Critique is always welcome.

Doesn't look like much. I'd love to see this trip tych style--with this in the
middle. I think it would work a lot better wide too.

Wider you say? How's this? 5 vertical shots at 17mm stitched in PTGui.

I know the pano isn't very good and has watermarks from PTGui but I'm still checking it out before I buy it.

Thanks for the honest feedback Ian. The problem with doing a triptych is that I was very close to the left canyon wall and the right canyon wall is far off so it would be hard to do anything that would look good. Maybe I'll give it a try though next time I'm there.

    Nick,
The photos you posted are two versions of the same scene with different results. (As far as this it's obvious and I added nothing).

For me the first shot is very nice. I would go a little more back trying to capture the hole dead tree placing it at 1/3 of the frame.

May be I would go a little more to our right also to place the drops (little water fall), which are at the bottom end of the scene, at 1/3 of the horizontal making balance with the extreme left of the tree.
Which in turn I would place on the other side of the picture.

    I tried to draw in CS2 but I don't know how. headscratch.gif

As for the second picture I think it's interesting but you should keep the tree inside with it's curve making contrast with the curve of the land at the bottom at the same time.
The curves go somehow making a circle, one turned up and the other turned down. Take advantage of this placing yourself up or down.

I know my English is very poor but I do my best. I would like you to say where I was not clear enough to repeat my thought in other words. Sorry.ne_nau.gif

I made this disastrous composition with your shots to make me understand the best I can. Sorry.ne_nau.gif

The carving in the tree makes the shot much more interesting for me. I like the original.

I think the 17 makes for a nice shot. Really gives the place perspective.

By trip tych, I mean of the seasons. A winter, spring, fall sort of thing.

    Nick,

I like it. I can't wait until there is more ice too.
