Came across these "alternative" portraits on a photoblog this weekend and thought I would give it a try. Also chance to try new 30D and 85 f/1.8.

Shot in very low light in my living room - so ISO 3200 and f/1.8. I think the focus was too percise for the application as they came out a little soft with the head movement. I have to say I am super impressed with the low light performance of the 30D though. Shooting anything at ISO 800+ on my 10D typically resulted in a garbage if cropping was required.

PS - this gives you a bit of a headache - so don't try it if your subject is delicate.

Now show me a shot of him drinking water with his mouth that way rolleyes1.gif
It's quite an interesting effect isn't it...... likes like he got punched in the face just seconds before the shot *ouch* .... Skippy (Australia)

I'd need a powerful hose and very good timing. The shutter is firing at 1/250th and I was catching maybe 1 in 10 shots that were half decent. I need a subject with more "extra" weight I think!

Great capture! These types of photos have a certain name, but I can't think of the name! I've done it before. Yes it does dive you a headache, but the results are fun!
