I recently had my final California shoot before the move to Chicago. I had a few hours off during a crazy month and decided to check out SJWS one last time. I had been hearing the the osprey was back in full force and they certainly did not disappoint.
Got a little comorant show before I left as well.
I have been told that there are several bobcats living in the area around SJWS, but I have never even seen any much less photographed them. Kinda an Irvine urban legend...or at least I thought. I turned around during an osprey/comorant break and to my surprise I was standing 20ft from San Joaquin's bigfoot (in really crappy lighting too)
It was tough conditions and all I had was the 400 5.6. I'm really really missing the 500's IS:cry...
All in all a wonderful last day in CA!
Thanks for the look:thumb

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Jeff --- I'd heard about bobcats being there, too. Thanks for the confirming evidence. I've only been to the refuge once. You just gave me the incentive to go back. --- John

Thanks! I was lucky to get them:D
Thanks David! I've been really enjoying Chicago so far. You think that will end come Jan/Feb? Any suggestions on where to shoot some wildlife? Nick showed me Starved Rock a few weekends ago and I'm itching to geet back and see those eagles again.
Most of my bobcat shots didnt work out so well with the 400 and no tripod, but I glad I got the few that I did.

Thanks Dick! You have anything like that on Aruba? Looking at your photos it seems like you have tons of wildlife to work with. Nice Gallery!
Thanks Glen. Well full frame after some cropping
Talk to the people at the visitor's center. There is a lady in the back that has been logging all the times she see the bobcats. She also knows exactly where the ospreys have been hanging out. Good luck!
Thanks Jeff. Sorry I missed you guys while I was still in LA. I may be back in town at the end of this month...maybe we can do a quick shoot then
