PS- Day of the Dead is the Aztec equalivent of our Memorial Day. But they go a step further than we, (those wacky Aztecs), by bringing the honored dead back for a family meal and the sharing of memories between the living and the dead.

Very cool, thanks for sharing!
Very nice shot....but I must ask is this one of the honored dead....those eyes are chilling.....
Ah, Dia De Los Muertos, Danny Elfman's favorite holiday...
I was planning on going to Olvera Street last Thursday, but ended up not feeling too well. Thanks for sharing, great pics!
For anyone interested, there is a good Dia De Los Muertos article here.
Yeah ... she, (like about half the people participating), was more about self promotion than observing the old Aztec celebration.

Thanks for looking. Hey, I like the last three of your Civil War stuff, best.

Nope ... he seemed very worn out and tired ...but still kicking. I think he was a bit taken by much of the festivities being geared more for "Hollywood" than Tenochititlan.

Hey Bill ... thanks for the link.
Dia de los Muertos, as you properly mentioned, is equally as fascinating (as those crazy Aztecs had an obsession with death) as it is ... mmmhhh ... warm ... comforting.
Together, the entire family addresses death, after life, life, family history, et al. And always, good food as the living family shares a meal and memories with their expanded family from the here after.
