I couldn't resist posting a few photos from a day trip to D.C.
Nikon D200 and Sigma 18-200. (I think they were all with the 18-200 - mainly I was just there doing snapshots...didn't use a tripod or change lenses but a few times)
Amazing what a descent camera and good light can do for ya! I was in P mode for all of these shots and matrix metering for most photos, occasionally switching to spot metering as needed. I did have the Nikonians D200 custom settings for landscapes applied in-camera for these as well. http://www.nikonians.org/dcforum/DCForumID202/17033.html
Vietnam War Memorial
Washington Monument (a few shots).
One of the fountains at the World War II memorial.
Lincoln Memorial (a few shots).
The White House
Korean War Memorial
U.S. Capitol Building
Lights inside Ford's Theater where President Abe Lincoln was shot.
Mount Vernon - George Washington's home.
Finally, this one is a little out of place, BUT he WAS down on the national mall near the monuments. Chilling out in a willow tree. If nothing else, I figured HarryB would appreciate this one! It's a heron right?

Thank you I don't know if you can even take the stairs these days. I think they force everyone to use the elevator. Yes...there's an elevator in the center of the monument Seems strange when you look at it, but there's one in there!

Thank you, Sir I've got more! Once I get more ready and uploaded I'll add more on here. That's the worst part of the photography process for me...digging through tons of photos and picking out what you want, then editing if necessary.
Ok, here's some more...
Ford's Theater
Some stained glass at the Mt Vernon visitor center
Native American Indian Museum
Photo left behind by someone at the Vietnam War Memorial
Fountain at WW II Memorial with Washington Monument in view.
WW II Memorial again
Looking out across the reflecting pool from the Lincoln Memorial over to the Washington Monument.
Korean War Memorial
Thanks for posting

Thanks. The WW II memorial is probably one of the best ones there. It's really nice. The cool thing about D.C. is all the free museums. If you can go at a time of year when the crowds aren't there, it's much better.
I really have to give Nikon a big thumbs up on the photos. Like I said earlier, I was mainly just out walking around taking snapshots without a tripod and using a relatively cheap lens (Sigma 18-200)...and in P mode on the camera. I rarely stray from P mode unless I want to control the depth of field, but there was no need for that on these shots. So basically, I let the camera do the thinking and I simply pointed it towards what I wanted and pressed the button I was amazed at the photos when I started reviewing them on my PC. Some probably have a little too much color because of the "Landscape" custom settings I used in-camera (per the Nikonian's spreadsheet), but in general I like how they turned out.
