Hi!

I've used the search function but cant seem to find
an answer to my question:

Anybody know of a (free) software that can extract
EXIF and/or IPTC data from a list of files in a batch
process? The goal is to get a list of files each of them
containing the EXIF to a corresponding image file.

I've seen Downloader Pro can do it. But thats for $$.
Any other suggestions?

Matthias Wandel's program jhead will extract basic EXIF data from jpg files and is free. EXIFUtils is a low cost ($29) shareware program that gives IPTC and more complete EXIF info. It also works on TIFF and a variety of RAW formats as well. You can download a somewhat limited version for free here. I have used both on Windows systems, but they are available for Mac and *NIX systems as well.

    HTH.

    All these suggestions sound great!
But I immediately fell in love with
jhead and its command line usage.

There's also Exiftool (different from EXIFTools) that's a freebie command-line utility. It's Perl-based, so you need a Perl interpreter, but it's not that tough to set up. I use it a lot in EXIF manipulations.

i just had a look at its features, and it beats everything else i've seen
so far. with the gps tag functionality it might very well be the mother
of exiftools i've been looking for. as a canon dude, i keep having problems
to put my gpsdata into the exif (by hand, its horrible). thanks for sharing
    the link!

:D I've found the same, that utility beats everything else I've looked at over the past year. Phil keeps adding to it, too. The most amazing part is it's free. clap.gif
