you may have met anna before... anyhow, here's a couple i took today, about 8 degrees upstate new york, a little snow falling ... she wants to be an actress, i think she's off to a good start, eh?

canon 1Ds Mark II, 50mm f/1.4 aboard. shot in raw, convertedin acr and then in ps cs, applied a very subtle curves adjustment and then slight usm (150, .4, 1).

Looks like a pro took them. Are you getting into portraits and fashion photog,

Andy, can you post a crop of the image before any adjustment? I'd like to see what it looks like right out of the camera, plus I'd like to learn what you did in CS with the image.

She's lovely, andy, and shows genuine happiness in the image.

My only nit is that the pink doesn't contrast enough with the gray sky. I think a darker background would make for a more striking image. Of course, that's just my opinion, and what do I know, cuz...well, I'm just a hack.

Great shots! I'm drawn to both by the blue eyes. The grey sky does
    distract a bit though.

Model, photographer and camera are Pro!
Andy! You have great model :-)
As for the photos, they are very good, I like natural look, natural poses. At the same time, it seems to me that you've went too far in PS with the eyes on the first photo. They look 'out of the whole natural look' of the photo... The naturalness has gone. Then, one of the main rules, as you know - try to photograph black on white and white on black. Think that choosing darker background could help here...
Andy! Your portraits become better and better! Hope my critique will help you...

I like the second one Andy. It has more life in it. The first one is a bit static. The second one vibrates... What goregous eyes she has. She is a beauty.

The shots are awesome and your daughter is lovely! I've seen the crop on your other thread and I can say only one thing, WOW!!! I've held a 1D MK II a couple of days ago and that made me drooling to hold, but now that I see the results of the 1Ds........
I think your wife will also be very pleased with some nice prints mwink.gif
    Thanks for sharing Andy!

thank you, yuri - and you are right. i lightened the eyes a bit too much in the first one.

as to the background - well we only had about 30 seconds to shoot, it was very very cold and we were on a "pit stop" during a road trip lol3.gif

as ever, i really appreciate your input

    spasibo!

    Hi again Andy!
Man, solid shots here, as usual!

You certainly can get great people shots no matter the conditions (even in a short stop by the road), and that's evident here.

By this, I mean you are really REALLY GOOD at the most important thing in people photography: working *with* the subject, which is IMHO the hardest to master. Of course Anna's relaxed because you're her big daddy (and you need absolutely no effort to make her look lovely!), but I'm more than sure you could get excellent results with about any subject!

    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Take care!

    -- thiago

PS: The detail on those shots is superb (I've just seen the 100% crop). It looks more or less like what I would get on a tight shot from a 5/6MP camera. Cool stuff!

    Nice
Andy, lovely pictures of your daughter (and I disagree about the sky, btw).

I noticed some white spots at the bottom left of both pics. Are these dust on the sensor (or of course snow!)?

    Best wishes,

    Danny
