Woah, that looks like something from Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings)! Very very cool! Where in the Smokies is that?
If I remember right, it was right off the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail (road). But I can't say for sure. Either that or on the walk back to Grotto Falls or Laurel Falls perhaps? Those are about the only 2 easy hikes I can get my wife to go on...so I'd have to say it was one of those 3 places. Most likely the Roaring Fork road though. That would be my guess. This was taken in 2005...so I'm having trouble remembering the exact location. That and there are LOTS of wonderful streams like this all over the Smokies.
What a location! Beautiful shot and lighting conditions. Looks like it should be one of the 7 wonders of the world........a place everyone should see!!! (I keep looking for the unicorn.....):saurora

Thank you! It really is a wonderful place. The huge mossy boulders, clear mountain streams, fallen trees with moss....it's just great to see. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else - so far. I really enjoy it there.

Thanks! Yes....everyone should see it....for sure!
...and just around the corner...
I love your shot! as well as these mossy places in the mountains. Here's a place on my property that could be just around the corner from your shot. Not as pretty, but just as GREEN.
