Up north pics
Hello,
(For the Cameratalk MN folks this is just a repeat)
I spent 5 days up on the north end of the Hudson Bay recently. Chasing polar bears and whatever else was around. Was a neat trip as most was on foot around a base camp, which allowed me to photograph the animals at ground level - something one cannot do from the tundra buggies.
I've divided my pics into four folders - these are from the first folder, so more to come.
Comments and criticisms always appreciated.
#1 Snow
#2 Looking for prey
#3 Close-up #1
#4 Close-up #2
#5 Cub (1 1/2 yrs) ice skating (this would be better as a movie - really funny to watch)
#6 Males sparring
#7 Coke commercial shot (except for all the blood)
#8 Ptarmigan on snow (talk about white on white - tough to get these guys to stand out)
#9 Arctic fox #1
These were fun. These guys only came out for us at night, although I've seen other pictures of them during the day. It was pitch black when I took them - we lit the fox with a spotlight from about 90 deg to the right. Given these circumstances, as well as the fact that I was shooting at iso 3200 with the 500 at shutter speeds around 1/100th of a sec I was pretty pleased at the results.
#10 Arctic fox #2
#11 Northern Lights

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
