I manage to get a few pelican shots in difficult lightning circumstances.
Fill-flash did'nt do much.

With some help from NC, i manage a keep a few keepers. I hope you like them.

Thanks for looking.

    Pretty
Such pretty plummage! Good shots! Wish I could get that close to our local pelicans. They are getting ready to fly south anyway and when they do I won't see them again till late April unless I drive south 5 hours or so! :D

Since you posted such a nice large size, I'm hoping these will work as desktop photos on my computer... hope that's OK...

yep! #2 is very cool....diagonal formation through the frame.clap.gif

You sure had some hard light and reflection to deal with on these. It wouldn't stop me from trying either.thumb.gif

    What were your flash settings?

The stronger the light, the more flash you need.

    I like the diagonal too.

That was tough lighting. :uhoh I will usually pass on that kind of light. You did extremely well but some flash would have helped.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I agree with Raptorcaptor that Shadows/Highlights would bring out a lot of detail that is currently being lost. I tried it on No. 1 and was surprised by how much detail was there just using the auto setting. These are nice captures that are worth a little PP work (IMO).

They were much darker than this but more recovery would result in artifacts I don't like. Already they not suitable for large print.
