Maui -- I'm back!

Thanks to all of you who gave me some ideas of where to go on our trip to Maui -- it was my first time there, and WOW! It was so much fun. We arrived 2 days after the earthquake, but I think what impacted Maui more was the rain -- it had also rained 4" in Kihei (with an annual rainfall of 10" so this was a massive amount). Snorkeling was murky for a while, but then cleared up. We didn't even go some places like the "Seven Sacred Pools" as they would've been seven turbulent mudholes. But here are a few photos:

Did I happen to mention that I like geckos?

    Very, very nice!
The photo of Haleakala with the fog rolling over and the billowly clouds behind is one of the best I've seen!

And the gecko is cute! Love the shadow from the underside of the leaf too.

Thank you, everyone, for your comments.

The shot of the gecko on the red leaf was taken a few hours before we left Maui -- it was a whole area of plants with green leaves, and one or two red leaved plants -- I was walking back to the condo and saw that silhouetted gecko! I smiled from ear to ear! :D

Great shots, Joan! Love the colors in the first one. The cloud on Haleakala and the Gecko on the red leaf are great! Hope the rain didn't dampen your fun too much.

    Joan,
    Great image of Haleakala. clap.gif

And the silhouette of gecko is worth entering the current challenge, methinks! thumb.gifmwink.gif

Yes, thank you all -- Maui is a beautiful place, with so many moods of weather and scenery. If you want to look at more, go take a look at my album on Smugmug

I think we should all just hop on a plane and go there, don't you think? :gone

I would agree with the others. The gecko silhouette is a definite to enter in the contest. Really love it.

You've got quite a variety of shots and all of them are great. That first shot really draws you in!
